"If you love Me, keep My commandments. - John 14:15
A pilot was experiencing difficulty in landing his plane because of fog; And the airport decided to bring him in by radar. As the pilot began to receive directions from the ground he suddenly remembered a tall pole in the flight path and appealed in panic to the control tower about it. The reply came bluntly, "You obey instructions."
The question is, will we follow and obey the commands of God's Word? Will our hearts burn with a great love for Christ and for each other as brothers and sisters in Christ! Will we love the truth of God's Word so much we will read it, study it, memorize it and tell others about it so that they can also know and enjoy it? Will this church come together around the things that really matter (like God's Word, reaching the lost. seeing people saved, building a loving! caring family of believers) and forget about those things that don't really matter (getting our way! petty disagreements, criticizing each other")?
I remember a statement once made that said, "We have no right to ask God to save and bring lots of people in our church if we won't or don't get along with each other and love each other!" The truth of this statement leads me to wonder if the people of Sullivan will see such a love and peace among the members of Sullivan Southern Baptist Church that it will be a CONTAGIOUS kind of place where people will come to get away from the trouble in their lives even if just for a while. How I pray they will and that we will be that kind of a church!
