As a New Year begins, many people set new goals or resolutions for themselves.
Sadly, most of those goals usually concern their physical being and very little, if any, attention is directed toward goals of a spiritual nature. This should make it clear to us that Christians need to share the word of God with people now more than ever. To do that, Christians need to KNOW the word of God, the Bible. A great way to do that is to read through the Bible in one year.
It is amazing how many Christians have never even attempted this. I realize it takes a lot of discipline, but it pays incredibly rich dividends. It will not only increase your knowledge, but it will also cause your faith to grow by leaps and bounds. Nothing helps us to see more clearly the power, the wisdom and the sovereignty of our God than reading through the Bible. As I read its pages I find no matter how dark was the hour, no matter how weak were the people of God and no matter how strong sin was, God fulfilled His promises and achieved His purposes. We desperately need to see the truth of God's sovereignty because we are also facing a dark hour. Sin seems to be running wild everywhere we look. The people of God seem so weak and insignificant.
Instead of throwing our hands up in despair, let's read our Bibles and come to rejoice in the glorious truth that nothing is going to happen in 2018 that will surprise GOD or will stop His ultimate plan.
